DAFOE

12.04.1999 - 2008.

Colour: White with brown.

2 years old, Dafoe ran into a field with horses - and was kicked at his head, so his upper-lip was damaged and he had a serious concussion of his brain. I was not aware af Dafoe finding himself such a "though" dog, therefore I didn't reach to stop him of running into the horses ..... but I did manage to stop the horse to attac him again ..... and then it was home, and quickly off to the Vet. 

The Vet find that his upper-lip was slitted, but he was not able to sew it together, and that I should give him some peace at home to rest; well that was obvious, not being able to shake his head or body or even walk for a hole week. Eventually he went out for walking again - and everything seemed to be normal once again concerning his health. 

In oktober 2002 - one and a half year later, Dafoe had some small accicents, once he slipped over the edge of a bridge og hit his head before he went into the water, even though he managed to swing ashore. Some days later another dog tumbled over him, and gave him some damage in his loin. Finally he wasn't able to bent his head down drinking water (according to our Vet the start of a slipped disc.), and he was in very strong pain and unable to lay on his side. Then we decided to take him to the Vet to have a pain-revlieving injection, unfortunately (!!!!) the Vet also gave him two injections of adrenal cortex (some kind of prednison) in spite of the fact that it is written in Dafoe's jounal he is allergic to these products.

Within only 10 min. Dafoe swelled up all over his body, it seemed as he took on 10 kilo before my very eyes. The only thing the Vet said to me was, that if the swelling didn't fall within an hour, he could give Dafoe another injection with a similar product - I was speachless, he "offered" to give Dafoe even more of this product which he clearly was allergic to ???????????? The next day the swollow was decreasing, still his ears was three time as thick as they used to !

Earlyer that year I read in the magazine of The Danish Kennel Club "HUNDEN" about Marianne Bendixen, who is treating dogs with chiropractic.
Happily I had a time for treatment for Dafoe allready the following day. It appeared that the back of Dafoe´s was crooked, the organs was at overtime and that he was excreting waste products partly trhough his skin. Marianne Bendixen then gaave Dafoe the first of four treatments. The following weeks he was sleeping a LOT and also he drank EXTREMELY MUCH WATER, literly his body was rushed through. Around Christmas unfortunately it appeared that Dafoe was developing heavy skin sensitiveness, with buds and loss of hair all over the budy (except for his head), no hair on the inside of his legs especially the hind legs - which later became the largest problem, for a period according to this he had no skin at one of his hind paws.

During this hole proces which ended with DAFOE HAVING A SUPERB COAT ALL OVER HIS BODY, we gave him Aloe Vera to drink, and ALL the times he was scratching himself almost to peaces and couldn't sleep - even during the nicht ! - we sprayed him with Aloe Vera to calm down his itching, giving him time for some rest and peace.
At this time we gave him special feed from Eukanuba (only made of potatoes and fish).

2004.02.11:
Dafoe is completely healthy. His skin has healed and the coat is still fine. We have now started to give him a little peace of common feed together with the special feed, and look foreward to some day have him on a normal level again ! 

2004.10.05:
Dafoe has been feed with normal food for the last aight month, his coat is shining and his temper is SPLENDID. Twice a year he is having a chiropractic check-up of his back from Marianne Bendixen.

18.04.2006:
Dafoe just became 7 years old the other day.
Now days he is being feed with RAW food, meaning being feed with only fresh meat, fresh vegetables and bone. - all together a kind of food he really enjoys.
Dafoe is doing fine, living af real dogs-life including good walks every day, as a leader for our two other dogs.
Occasionally he pay a visit to Marianne Bendixen, to help him maintain his good condition.

October 2008:
Dafoe became 9,5 years old.

DAFOE  !
